Frequently Asked Questions
What if I need an Urgent Care appointment, but your schedule is full?
Unfortunately, availability is not guaranteed. If we are unable to meet your needs promptly, we will direct you to a local emergency department or urgent care center near you.
I live outside your area coverage. Can, you still visit me?
If you live outside of Asheville, you may be charged an additional travel fee, depending on distance. This will be discussed with you during your initial phone contact.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept credit card and cash payments, including payment through your Health Savings Account (HSA). Your card may be billed a travel fee when you book your appointment; however, we will not charge your card for the remaining balance until your visit is completed and we have reviewed your invoice with you. Payment is due in full at the time of the visit.
Do you accept insurance?
We are a fee-for-service practice and do not bill insurance. If you have private insurance, we can provide you with a billing invoice for some services that may allow you to be partially reimbursed by your insurance plan.
Do you have portable EKG and monitoring equipment? Can you check blood sugar and blood oxygen levels? Do you have an ultrasound machine? Can you provide oxygen and nebulizer treatments? Can you administer IV medication?
Yes. Our mobile services can offer tests and care in a location convenient to you.
Will the doctor check on me after my Urgent Care appointment? What if I need follow-up care?
Our doctor will follow up with you by phone, or in person if needed, and will be accessible by phone or text to answer any of your questions. If you require specialty follow-up care, we will provide referral for these services. Extended phone follow-up is billed in 15-minute increments of our hourly rate.
Do you prescribe opioid pain medication?
For pain related to the condition we are diagnosing and treating, we prescribe various kinds of pain medications, including opioid prescriptions, as indicated. The types and amounts are determined by what is appropriate to target your particular symptoms. We do not refill routine prescriptions of pain medications.
Do you do physical exams for sports or camps?
Yes
I am traveling and lost my medication. Can you provide replacement prescriptions without an in-person visit?
For most prescription refill needs, we can call in a replacement supply or, for controlled substances, provide you with a paper prescription. We may need to communicate with your regular prescriber or home pharmacy, so please be prepared to provide this information. Medication refills can often be addressed through a phone or video conferencing visit and may not require an in-person appointment. If we cannot obtain needed information about your health and prescription history, we may not be able to prescribe for you.
Will my insurance reimburse me for ketamine treatments or psychedelic therapy?
Unfortunately, most insurance does not cover these treatments. We can provide superbills with medical codes for the medical parts of the visit, but this typically will result in reimbursement of only a small part of your costs.
Can I drive after being administered ketamine?
No, driving is unsafe after a ketamine session. We require you to have a driver bring you home for your safety. In the event you cannot obtain a ride, paid ride services are a good backup option.
Can I do psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy with my current therapist?
You are welcome to bring any support person you choose during your psychedelic ketamine sessions, including your current therapist. However. we cannot guarantee the quality of therapy with an outside therapist as most psychotherapists are not trained in this modality. At your intake appointment, you can get more information about this option.
Will my psychedelic therapist communicate with my referring therapist about my treatment?
Yes, your assigned psychedelic therapist will work with you during the preparation phase to coordinate communication with your existing therapist and will discharge you back into their care once your course of psychedelic psychotherapy is complete.
